Canada Park
Canada Park Israel

This rare film, shared online is two parts by Palestine Diary, reveals the history behind the demolition and destruction of several Palestinian villages. The documentary details how the land of ‘Imwas, Yahu and Bayt Nuba became an Israeli public park. Several new agencies reported on the park’s troubled history. Merisha Gadzo, writing for Mondoweiss, shares the story of the ten thousand Palestinian inhabitants of these three villages were forced under the threat of violence to flee their homes and lands.

Jonathan Cook refers to the building of Canada Park over the demolished Palestinian homes a “memoricide,” or a destruction and erasure of memory. An article posted on ItIsApartheid.org calls the depopulation of the Palestinian villages as an act of “ethnic cleansing.” Bill Skidmore reported that a human rights Professor filed a complaint against the park’s funders, the Jewish National Fund of Canada, for their role in the colonial project.
