The G. Eric and Edith Matson Photograph Collection—formerly known as the Matson Photo Service Collection—contains more than 23,000 glass and film negatives, transparencies, and photographic prints. The photos were created by the American Colony Photo Department, which primarily catered to tourists and featured costumed actors and recreations of Biblical scenes. The collection is now held at the Library of Congress and is available digitally in a searchable format.
