Israeli Checkpoint at Separation Wall
Israeli checkpoint
Israel decided to construct the Separation Barrier in 2002 following a series of Palestinian attacks. The barrier prevents West Bank Palestinians without permits from entering Israel. It also supports the illegal annexation of Palestinian land in the West Bank and has facilitated Israel’s takeover of 10% of the West Bank between the Green Line and the Separation Barrier. 85% of the Separation Barrier runs through the West Bank occupied territory, cutting off about 150 Palestinian communities from their lands. The United Nations International Court of Justice declared the Separation Barrier illegal in 2004. Featured photo: An Israeli checkpoint at the Separation Wall. Via PalestineRemembered.
