Lizzy Ratner is co-editor of The Goldstone Report: The Legacy of the Landmark Investigation of the Gaza Conflict and a contributing editor at The Nation. She described visiting Palestinian territories as a different world: “The moment I crossed a checkpoint, fifteen minutes from Jerusalem, the world changed. My worldview shattered. You grow up being told ‘they’ [Palestinians] want to push us into the sea and we have to do everything we can to stop this evil enemy that wants to kill us and is going to kill us, and then you meet the terrible evil enemy, and not only are they nice, and decent, but they’re actually oppressed.”

Ratner organized and moderated an all-Jewish American panel discussion on whether Israel is a democracy.
