Khaled Elgindy is a senior fellow at the Middle East Institute (MEI) and director of the MEI program on Palestine and Israeli-Palestinian Affairs. He is the author of the book Blind Spot: America and the Palestinians, from Balfour to Trump (2019). Elgindy has served as an advisor to the Palestinian leadership in Ramallah on negotiations with Israel from 2004-2009 about permanent status, and he was a key participant in the 2007-2008 Annapolis Conference negotiations. He also serves as an adjunct instructor of Arab Studies at Georgetown University. In this Foreign Policy article, Elgindy argues that Washington has enabled Israeli extremism.
