Michael Sfard
Michael Sfard

Michael Sfard is an Israeli human rights lawyer and political activist. He is also the legal advisor to Yesh Din, an Israel-based nonprofit organization that works to protect the human rights of Palestinians living under Israeli military occupation. Established in 2005, Yesh Din is served by a volunteer corps and by a professional staff, lawyers, and human rights experts.

Sfard came to the conclusion when writing a legal opinion for the Yesh Din civil rights group. In an exclusive interview with +972 Magazine, Sfard explained what led Yesh Din to charge Israel with the crime of apartheid in the West Bank.

In a 2020 interview, he explained that Israel’s occupation of the West Bank constitutes an “apartheid regime.”

Writing in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Sfard describes Israel’s treatment of Palestinians as apartheid.
