Union organizer Miles Meth recently wrote an opinion piece on Forward.com, a self-described pro-Israel, pro-Palestine, and pro-democracy organization. His op-ed focused on the Boston Workers Circle’s choice to describe Israel’s war of Gaza as a genocide and their subsequent removal from the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC).
As a board member, Miles reflects on his pride in the Boston Workers Circle (BWC) for making a stance against mass murder and laments JCRC’s decision to force BWC out of the coalition. He also discusses Israel’s recent bombardment in Gaza in response to the October 7, 2023 attack from Hamas, which he agrees is a massacre. He questions if such violence is necessary to protect Jews. Miles believes that Israel’s military occupation hasn’t benefited Palestinian or Jewish communities. He calls for other Jews to look past their identity and humanize Palestinian people.
