One Truly Democratic State

Palestinian Awad Abdulfatteh and Israeli Jeff Halper discuss equal treatment for all people of Israel/Palestine in this Canadian webinar: https://canadatalksisraelpalestine.ca/2020/06/25/its-not-enough-to-say-the-2-state-solution-is-dead-you-need-to-propose-an-alternative-argue-co-chairs-of-the-one-democratic-state-campaign/#more-17460. They present a vision consistent with everyone’s moral values, a state where all people are treated as equals.

Halper is a founder of the Israel Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD). ICAHD is a non-violent Israeli direct-action organization established in 1997 to end Israel’s Occupation over the Palestinians. Halper envisions the return of Palestinian refugees families, saying, “All refugees have a right to return…. Just because you flee a country in war or are driven out of a country, doesn’t mean you lose your civil status… Bringing the refugees home is bringing our citizens home.”

Awad Abdelfattah is a political writer and the former general secretary of the Balad party. He is the coordinator of the Haifa-based One Democratic State Campaign.
