Palestinian Children as Human Shields
Palestinian children as human shields

Defense for Children International – Palestine (DCIP) is an independent, local Palestinian child rights organization dedicated to defending and promoting the rights of children living in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. DCIP published a report which documents circumstances in which Palestinian children have been vulnerable to recruitment by both Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups between 2004 and 2011. The study found 17 documented cases of Palestinian children being used as human shields by Israeli forces, 26 cases where Palestinian children have participated in hostilities through armed groups, and 16 cases wherein Israeli authorities recruit Palestinian children as informants.
