Qaqun, a Palestinian village once located in the West Bank, was invaded, depopulated, and demolished by Jewish settlers in 1945. This land deed, posted to the Palestine Remembered archival website, provides concrete evidence that Palestinians owned land and resided in the town prior to Jewish settlement. The deed lists the main region of the land, Samama, the sub-district, Tulkarm which is also the name of a larger city located nearby, and “town or village” is listed as Qaqun. This deed, dated 1942, lists the landowner’s name as well as the total land size. The document, originating from the Government of Palestine’s Land Registry, was posted to the archive in 2011.
