Rashida Tlaib

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib made history in 2008 as the first Muslim woman to serve the Michigan Legislature and the first Palestinian American woman elected to Congress. In 2022, Tlaib sponsored H.Res.1123 – Recognizing the Nakba and Palestinian refugees’ rights in commemoration of the 74th anniversary of the uprooting, dispossession, and refugeedom of Palestinians. She also delivered a powerful speech on the House floor denouncing the violence and erasure of the Palestinian people in the midst of Israel’s escalation of violence in Gaza.
