Shatzi Weisberger was a Jewish American death educator, nurse, and activist. She advocated for justice through the civil rights movement, the anti-nuclear movement, the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power, Black Lives Matter, and Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP). She became a fixture in the New York City activism scene, becoming dubbed “the people’s bubbie.” In an interview with JVP-NYC, she described how realizing that Israel was committing a slow genocide against Palestinians “broke [her] heart.” She was photographed at rallies carrying signs that said “92 year old Jewish dyke for a Free Palestine.”
