The Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi is a Buddhist scholar and translator who has spoken out against Israel’s injustice in Palestine. In a 2024 article published on Common Dreams, Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi calls Israeli’s attack on Gaza “the gravest moral crisis of our time.” A self-described “American Buddhist monk of Jewish ethnicity,” Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi calls for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza strip to ensure security for both Israeli and Palestinian people. He states that he is “deeply distressed by Israel’s military assault on the population of Gaza” and argues for a two-state solution.
