The Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) at Virginia Tech passed a resolution in October 2021 demanding that the University’s administration enact an academic boycott of Israel and institutions “complicit in maintaining the Israeli occupation.” The resolution similarly demanded that the Virginia Tech Foundation divest from “companies that profit from the Israeli occupation and apartheid.” The resolution passed 33-13, with 10 GPSS members abstaining. The resolution also demanded divestment from fossil fuels and carceral corporations.
